Apple Macs in school.

Y3/4 ICT Enrichment Autumn 2009 The children in lower school have begun a project using Garage band on the Apple Mac computers. The children have already begun to use the music software to record tracks for a news report being delivered from the scene of a volcanic eruption. Working in pairs, they have developed and manipulated different sound effects to create a realistic scene in which to deliver a news report. Some of the best recorded pieces include, emergency vehicles, thunderous rumbling sounds and the busy crowds creating noise as they escape the volcanic eruption. In the next few weeks children will be evaluating their pieces and improving their sounds. Finally they will plan and write their news report which will be recorded with the sound effects they have already created. Y5/6 ICT Enrichment Autumn 2009 Pupils in upper school have been using a range of search engines to develop their knowledge on their chosen class topic as part of The Bigger Picture. This has included The Romans, The Vikings, The Tudors, The Victorians and Britain since the 1930’s. Children have been using their time on the Apple Mac’s to create there own website using the program Iweb. Children will be working on Iweb over the next few weeks to develop their own individual websites by developing and attaching photo albums, movies, blogs and even podcasts!
